When Linda Sophia and her husband began planning their home together in the summer of 2013, one thing quickly became clear: They wanted wood to play a major role in their home. “It radiates warmth and cosiness. That's why we decided on a wooden façade, and we knew immediately that we wanted a wooden floor in the interior as well,” recalls Linda Sophia.
After one and a half years of construction, the time has finally come: The wooden dream house is complete! The new building features an open, contemporary design and high ceilings on two floors. “We are still very happy and satisfied with all our decisions about our home,” says Linda Sophia.
Inside, the house owner sets accents with selected accessories and high-quality furniture. For her young son, she has set up a white tepee in the living area right next to the fireplace, where he can not only play but also quickly hide his toys afterwards. The heavy wooden dining table with its dark legs is just as eye-catching as the bright white kitchen, which forms an intriguing contrast to the otherwise subdued earth tones. A concrete staircase leads to the upper floor, which leads to the large terrace with an unobstructed view over the neighbourhood. In summer, the family enjoys siting outside. Linda Sophia often takes photos there for her Instagram account (@lindasophia____), which is now followed by over 8,600 users. In it she gives her followers insights into her everyday life or shows them her favourite trends from the lifestyle, fashion and interior sectors. “I would describe my furnishing style as modern and minimalist with Scandinavian influences,” she explains as her gaze wanders through the living area.
She was particularly taken with one raw material: Whether for the façade, the large terrace or the flooring inside, wood has been used everywhere. With the exception of the bathrooms, the pantry and the utility room, the young family has installed the Lindura wooden floor from MEISTER everywhere. “We looked at several different wooden floors. Lindura impressed us with its durability, design and excellent price-performance ratio.” To find the right colour for their new home, Linda Sophia and her husband brought some samples with them from the specialist shop to the construction site. Above all, the floor had to match the concrete staircase as harmoniously as possible. In the end, the choice fell on the colour café latte. Thanks to the château plank format, the long planks are quickly laid so that the family can move in as planned. To keep their feet warm and cosy during the winter months, the new homeowners decide to install underfloor heating throughout the house before laying the flooring. “We bonded the Lindura flooring on the ground floor and upper floor. In combination with underfloor heating, this laying technique was the perfect choice for us.”
The young family has been living in their dream home in Offenburg for four years now. Especially her young son keeps her husband and her on their toes. When he runs through the house or plays with his building blocks, it's the floor that has to withstand the most. While other wood coverings are quickly pushed to their limits by such everyday challenges, Lindura can handle them easily. “As promised, the floor is very durable, so it's perfect for a household with children and animals. We also laid the Lindura wooden flooring in the kitchen, where it looks just as good after four years of wear as it does in the rest of the house. To keep it that way, Linda Sophia regularly wipes the floor with a damp cloth or reaches for a vacuum cleaner to protect the flooring. When friends drop by, she's often asked whether she is still satisfied with the wooden flooring in the kitchen. The floor is often exposed here to splotches or splashes of water from cooking or washing up. “Like I always say: wooden floors take courage – including in the kitchen! I've never regretted having laid the floor there. I think that's an outdated mindset,” laughs Linda Sophia. A few felt sliders under the dining table chairs ensure that the Lindura flooring retains its beautiful look for a long time to come. Otherwise, he’s a tough performer.
